This is an actual research paper by 2 professors at Clemson university. You can download it from the bottom of the page. The people who like and try to understand moneyball probably won't be surprised by anything that's in it. It's just affirmation of some of the aspects of moneyball that are the easiest to test.

I don't remember the formula from the very beginning of moneyball that a lawyer I believe had discovered, it was something like 49 wins for 7 million, and this was how you can asses how good your team is at winning, or something like that lol...
